CHANGE IN YARD WASTE SITE HOURS

The yard waste site will be open on Saturday and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  This is effective October 1st.  The site is now gated, please do not leave your yard waste at the gate.   The yard waste site is available to residents of the Village of Orfordville.  No materials from outside the Village can be brought in.

FARMERS MARKET

Farmers Market season is upon us!  Farmers Markets will be held across from 303 E. Beloit Street from June through September.  New this year is the Thursday night market from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  We will also continue to offer the Saturday morning Farmers Market from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..  Fall Fest will close out the Farmers Market season on Saturday, October 7th at Parkview Elementary School.   Please email Sherri at clerk@orfordville.org for an application.

GRASS CLIPPINGS IN THE STREET

Please do not mow your grass towards the street.   The grass clippings eventually end up in the storm sewers which presents a problem.  The grass builds up and clogs the pipes, which results in backups in heavy rains.   The Village has an ordinance against mowing in the streets, we ask that you abide by that.

PAVILION RESERVATION AT PURDY PARK

There are two pavilions available at Purdy Park to use for private functions.  You must reserve the pavilion ahead of time.  You can begin making reservations for 2017 on January 3, 2017.  There is a $50.00 deposit due when making the reservation.  You will get half of the deposit back if the pavilion is left in good order.

YARD WASTE SITE

Please remember that the yard waste site is for residential yard waste only.   People are using the area to dump electronics, appliances, and trash.  That is not what the area is for intended for, please only deposit yard waste!

DOWNTOWN IMPROVEMENTS ...The Economic Development Committee is working on upgrading the downtown.   We will be upgrading the corner at the old library. This fall, stamped concrete will be laid, benches, tables, a bike rack, and landscaping will also be done.  The focus is to improve the downtown in our community.   We are working with Alliant to see about getting decorative street lights in the downtown area as well.  We are excited that The Haven coffee shop is opening in August.  The Sassy Farm Chicks quilt business will be opening in September.  The Economic Development Committee is driven to draw business to the downtown and Business Park.    We have two vacant spots downtown and lots available in the Business Park. There are outside facade grants available for businesses located outside of the Business Park as well.  Please call the Village Hall for more information.
