Regular Board Meeting

CALL TO ORDER

                President Dennis Burtness called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were President Burtness, David Olsen, Beth Schmidt, Nikki Tuffree, Terry Gerber, and Terry Morris.  Also present were Tayna Burtness,  Danielle Harnack, Glenda Mullen, Candace Lawrence Thomas, Kevin and Karen McKinney, Chief Jeremiah Burdick, DPW Director Nick Todd, Librarian Sarah Strunz, and Clerk Sherri Waege.   Absent was Cami Myers-Alstat.

AGENDA VERIFICATION

                Clerk Waege verified that on February 7, 2025, copies of the agenda were emailed to the President and Trustees; posted at the Village Hall, Library, and the Post Office.  There were no additions made to the agenda.

CITIZENS WISHING TO BE HERAD

                None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

                Personnel Policy.  Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Schmidt to table to the February 24, 2025 meeting when the attorney can attend.  Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

                Parkview Community Fund.   Candace Lawrence Thomas, Danielle Harnack, and Glenda Mullen were present on behalf of the Parkview Community Fund.   Thomas explained that she, Harnack, and Mullen are all Parkview alumni.   Thomas explained they are part of a group of Parkview Alumni members that participate in a local Community Foundation in Southern Wisconsin.  Thomas explained that they are participating in a three year $50,000.00 fundraising challenge which will raise money for the communities in the Parkview School District.  The purpose is to provide donations and memorial money to be used for scholarships and local grants.  The first fundraiser will be a golf outing at Bass Creek on June 21st.  Thomas explained that they sent out a letter to Parkview Alumni to make them aware that tax deductible donations can be sent to their foundation.

                Tuffree explained that she is the chair of the Committee that is planning the 125th Anniversary of the Village of Orfordville.  The theme of the event will be Then and Now.  Tuffree invited the group to participate in the event.    Clerk Waege suggested that they reach out to Librarian Sarah Strunz to participate in the Senior Luncheon program.    Tayna Burtness gave Thomas her card so they can get their information to her for our website.

                President Burtness thanked them for attending and explaining their Foundation.

                Ordinance 121-10 Building Construction for Utility and Storage Sheds.  President Burtness explained that the current ordinance was designed for tin lightweight sheds to keep them anchored to the ground.  The current ordinance provides three requirements for anchoring sheds:  a three inch cement slab with anchor bolts, eight by sixteen inch footings using anchor bolts, or corner posts imbedded in cement.    Karen and Kevin McKinney were present regarding anchoring a storage shed.  Karen McKinney requested to use earth anchors which is more feasible.    Motion by Morris, seconded by Gerber to amend ordinance 121-10 B 2 to add the language that states : A minimum of four earth anchors in each corner twenty four inches deep.  Motion carried.

DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS

                Motion by Morris, seconded by Schmidt to approve the Department Head reports.  Motion carried.

VOUCHERS

                Motion by Gerber, seconded by Morris to approve the vouchers with a check range of 38015-38053.  Motion carried.

ADJOURN

                Motion by Gerber, seconded by Morris to adjourn at 7:18 p.m.  Motion carried.
