Regular Board Meeting

CALL TO ORDER

                President Dennis Burtness called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were President Burtness, Chuck Boyce, Beth Schmidt, Cami Myers-Alstat, Nikki Tuffree, Terry Gerber, and Jason Knox.  Also present were Chief Jeremiah Burdick, Librarian Sarah Strunz, and Clerk Sherri Waege.

AGENDA VERIFICATION

                Clerk Waege verified that on March 10, 2023, copies of the agenda were delivered to the President and Trustees; and posted at the Village Hall, Library, Bank of Brodhead, and the Post Office.  There were no additions made to the agenda.

MINUTE APPROVAL

                Motion by Knox, seconded by Boyce to approve the February 27, 2023 minutes.  Motion carried.

CITIZENS WISHING TO BE HEARD

                None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

                None.

NEW BUSINESS

                Resolution R-2022-06 setting 2023 wages.  Motion by Boyce, seconded by Tuffree to amend Resolution R-2022-06 to reflect the new wage for Ryan Akkerman when he is serving as DPW Director in the absence of DPW Director Nick Todd.  Motion carried.

                Chief Burdick Working Part Time.  Chief Burdick explained that he is available on the weekends to work the part time shifts.   Chief Burdick explained that the part time officers mostly pick up shifts during the week.   Chief Burdick explained that he could then work the DUI Grant shifts which gets reimbursed to the Village. Chief Burdick further explained that he would work at his regular hourly rate without overtime.  Knox asked if Chief Burdick’s contract would have to be amended.   Clerk Waege will check with Attorney Mike Hahn.  Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Gerber to table to the March 27, 2023 meeting.  Motion carried.

                Agreement with Sitzberger for Training for Financial Recording and Reporting.   Clerk Waege explained that the auditing firm has been purchased by a different company.  That company will no longer allow the auditor to do some of the recording entries and has provided a training proposal.  Clerk Waege explained that she is concerned about the cost of approximately $8,000.00 which is not budgeted.  Clerk Waege requested that the item be tabled to see if she can cost share with another municipality.  Motion by Gerber, seconded by Tuffree to table to the March 27, 2023 meeting.  Motion carried.

DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS

                Motion by Gerber, seconded by Boyce to approve the Department Head Reports.  Motion carried.

VOUCHERS

                Motion by Boyce, seconded by Schmidt to approve the vouchers with a range of 35472-35511.  Motion carried.

ADJOURN

                Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Knox to adjourn at 7:19 p.m.  Motion carried.
