CALL TO ORDER
President Gary Phillips called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Present were President Phillips, Tina Suiter-Meyers, Cami Myers-Alstat, Terry Gerber, Nikki Tuffree, and Jason Knox. Also present were Interim Chief Jeremiah Burdick and Clerk Sherri Waege. Absent was Beth Schmidt.
AGENDA VERIFICATION
Clerk Waege verified that on April 15, 2022, copies of the agenda were emailed to the President and Trustees; and posted at the Village Hall, Library, Post Office, Bank of Brodhead, and the Village Website. There were no additions made to the agenda.
POLICE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR ADVERTISEMENT FOR POLICE CHIEF
Interim Chief Burdick provided an ad for Police Chief to be posted on WileNet. Knox asked if three years prior experience was enough. Interim Burdick explained that we do not have the prior advertisement and that it is based off of other ads. Motion by Gerber, seconded by Suiter-Meyers to post the ad for Chief of Police on WileNet for 30 days. Motion carried.
POLICE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR ADVERTISEMENT FOR A FULL TIME OFFICER
Interim Chief Burdick provided an ad for a new Police Officer. Gerber asked if the Village would be flexible on the three-month requirement to live within 50 miles of the Village. Gerber added that the housing market may cause an issue with that. Interim Chief Burdick explained that he felt the Village would work with it if it is an issue. Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Suiter-Myers, to post the ad for a Full Time Police Officer on WileNet for 30 days. Motion carried.
POLICE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION FOR ADVERTISEMENT FOR PART TIME OFFICERS
Interim Chief Burdick provided an ad for Part Time Officers. Knox asked if the status of the Footville contract would change anything. President Phillips explained that we had the agenda done before we received the notice from the Village of Footville. President Phillips further explained that the Village has part time money in the budget for this year. Motion by Gerber, seconded by Suiter-Meyers to post the ad for Part Time Officers on WileNet for 30 days. Motion carried.
POLICE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION TO REINSTATE PART TIME OFFICER MIKE RUFER
Interim Chief Burdick explained that Rufer is interested in coming back as a Part Time Officer for the Village. Interim Chief Burdick explained that Rufer was a ten-year Part Time Officer with the Village, is in good standing as a Full Time Officer with the Village of Clinton and will continue to receive his training through the Village of Clinton. Interim Chief Burdick added that he will have Rufer do a drug test at the Monroe Clinic due to the three-month gap in employment with the Village. Suiter-Meyers asked when Rufer could start. Interim Chief Burdick explained that Rufer could start in early May.
Knox suggested the item be tabled to Monday’s meeting, depending on the situation with the Budget and the Footville Contract.
Motion by Gerber, seconded by Tuffree to reinstate Part Time Officer Mike Rufer. Motion carried with Knox voting No.

Motion by Suiter-Meyers, seconded by Tuffree to adjourn at 5:42 p.m. Motion carried.
