VILLAGE OF ORFORDVILLE

 Special Board Meeting

Tuesday, May 31, 2022 7:00 p.m.

CALL TO ORDER

                President Dennis Burtness called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were President Burtness, Chuck Boyce, Beth Schmidt, Nikki Tuffree, Terry Gerber, and Jason Knox.  Also present were Interim Chief Jeremiah Burdick and Clerk Sherri Waege.  Absent was Cami Myers-Alstat.

ASSISTANCE FROM CLINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

                Interim Chief Burdick explained that he spoke with Chief Schultz from the Clinton Police Department to see if they will assist with June Days.   Interim Chief Burdick explained that the Clinton Police Department will assist all three days.  Part time officer Mike Rufer will also be working.   Coverage will be from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17th, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18th, and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19th.

CLOSED SESSION

                Motion by Boyce, seconded by Tuffree to go into closed session at 7:04 p.m. pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes 19.85(1)( c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility-specifically to review police chief applications and hiring a police chief.   Roll Call Vote-Boyce, Schmidt, Tuffree, Gerber, Knox, and President Burtness-all YES.  Motion carried.

RECONVENE

                Motion by Gerber, seconded by Knox to reconvene into open session at 7:34 p.m.  Roll Call Vote-Boyce, Schmidt, Tuffree, Gerber, Knox, and President Burtness-all YES.  Motion carried.

                Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Gerber to approve the Police Committee recommendation to hire Interim Chief Jeremiah Burdick as full time chief for the Village of Orfordville and to have President Burtness negotiate his contract for the position.   Motion carried.

ADJOURN

                Motion by Boyce, seconded by Gerber to adjourn at 7:35 p.m.  Motion carried.
