Regular Board Meeting

CALL TO ORDER

                President Dennis Burtness called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were President Burtness, Beth Schmidt, Nikki Tuffree, and Terry Gerber.  Also present were Jeff Garde from Combs & Associates, Attorney Mike Hahn,  Chief Jeremiah Burdick, DPW Director Nick Todd, and Clerk Sherri Waege.   Absent were Cami Myers-Alstat, Chuck Boyce, and Jason Knox.

AGENDA VERIFICATION

                Clerk Waege verified that on October 20, 2023, copies of the agenda were delivered to the President and Trustees; and posted at the Village Hall, Library, and the Post Office.  There were no additions made to the agenda.

MINUTE APPROVAL

                Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Gerber to approve the minutes of the October 9, 2023 Regular Board Meeting.  Motion carried.

CITIZENS WISHING TO BE HEARD

                None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

                None.

NEW BUSINESS

                Operator License.  Motion by Gerber, seconded by Tuffree to approve the Police Committee recommendation to grant an Operator License to Julia DeLong to expire June 30, 2024.  Motion carried.

                Land Division for Zero Lot Line.  Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Tuffree to approve the Planning Commission recommendation to approve a Zero Lot Line Land Division for 309 and 311 Teri Lee Lane.  Motion carried.

                Amend Resolution R-2023-02.  Motion by Gerber, seconded by Tuffree to amend Resolution R-2023-02 to add Amy Friend to the Economic Development Committee.  Motion carried.

                Fence Ordinance 320-53.  President Burtness explained that he has had phone calls from residents regarding the ordinance that allows people to put a fence on the rear and side lot line.  When the fence is on the lot line, the owner has to go on the adjoining property to maintain their fence.    Clerk Waege will look at other municipalities to see what their ordinances say in regards to putting fences on the lot line.  No action taken.

TREASURER REPORT

                Motion by Gerber, seconded by Tuffree to approve the September Treasurer Report.  Motion carried.

VOUCHERS

                Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Gerber to approve the vouchers with a check range of 36292-36315.  Motion carried.

VILLAGE PRESIDENT UPDATE

                President Burtness explained the following:

  • The American Legion had the truck raffle drawing last Saturday the 21st,  the truck winner was from out of state – local people won the cash prizes.

  • Sonic added available fiber locations – Service areas added are the East side of N. Main St. and the West side of N. Mowe St. from Rime St. to Church St. The following addresses can get Fiber Internet now: 210 N. Main St.,  311 N. Mowe St., 216 N. Main St., 309 N. Mowe St., 218 N. Main St.,  307 N. Mowe St, 220 N. Main St.,  213 N. Mowe St, 306 N. Main St., 211 N. Mowe St., 312 N. Main St., 314 N. Main St.,  and 316 N. Main St.   The next blocks will be Pine St., Mowe St., and N. Main St. (North of Rime St.).  Planning next week for  the inside of Comfortcove St., Brett's Way, Rime St., and Jordan Place, and will continue working South.

  • Thanks to the Lions Club for hosting the Night on the Trail. The turnout was phenomenal.

Thanks to the  Sassy Farm Chicks, Orfordville Public Library,  and all of the volunteers who helped make this a resounding success.

  • Life in Pink will have an open house on  Saturday October 28th  from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

                      Free photos/treats/raffles and gift card sale. 

  • Orfordville Lutheran Church will have their Lutefisk Dinner on Saturday October 28th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Tuesday, October 31 – Village Trick or Treat from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Saturday, November 18th at 1 p.m. live music at Stables Bar and Grill featuring the Stateline     Playboys. 

  • Burtness Chevrolet is hosting their annual Toys for Tots toy drive – see the Facebook post for more information – ends on November 25th
