Regular Board Meeting

Monday, January 24, 2022 7:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER

                Village President Gary Phillips called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Present were President Phillips, Tina Suiter-Meyers, Beth Schmidt, Cami Myers-Alstat, Terry Gerber, Nikki Tuffree, and Jason Knox.  Also present were Teena Gerber, Nelda Regan, Glen & Gerry Johnson, Municipal Judge Russell Rucker, Attorney Michael Oellerich, and Clerk Sherri Waege. 

AGENDA VERIFICATION

                Clerk Waege verified that on January 20, 2022, copies of the agenda were delivered to the President and Trustees; and posted at the Village Hall, Library, and Post Office. There were no additions made to the agenda.

MINUTE APPROVAL

                Motion by Knox, seconded by Suiter-Meyers to approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of January 10, 2022.  Motion carried.

CITIZENS WISHING TO BE HEARD

                None.

VILLAGE PRESIDENT’S UPDATE

                President Phillips explained that they have been meeting and getting ready for the Spring Construction work in the Village.  A resident meeting for those that live on the affected streets will be held on February 9th.  President Phillips added that the Public Works Department did a good job with snow plowing over the weekend considering the amount of cars that were parked in the streets.

                None.

NEW BUSINESS

                Operator Licenses.  Motion by Gerber, seconded by Tuffree to accept the Police Committee recommendation to approve Operator Licenses to expire June 30, 2022 for Sherri Bollig and Jessica Wendelschafer.  Motion carried.

                Recognition of Clarice Monk.  President Phillips read and presented a plaque to Teena Gerber and Nelda Regan for their mother Clarice Monk.    President Phillips and the Village Board expressed their gratitude to Mrs. Monk for her years of service as owner of The Poor Peddler and also for her work she did with the Orfordville CUP program.  Nelda Regan explained that the store will remain open as they will be moving their rental office to the back of the store so it can remain open.

                Recognition of Gerry Johnson.  President Phillips read and presented a plaque to Gerry Johnson to recognize her retirement and her years of service to the village as the owner of Reflections.  The Village Board wished Gerry well wishes in her retirement.

                Ordinance for Municipal Court Officer.  President Phillips explained the ordinance that Attorney Oelleirch drafted that would require the Village to provide police protection at municipal court.  Municipal Judge Russell Rucker was present and explained that he requested this as a matter of safety for those that attend and work at Municipal Court.  Motion by Suiter-Meyers, seconded by Schmidt to adopt the Chapter 26, section 9 that requires a full time officer of the Orfordville Police Department be present at municipal court.  Motion carried.

TREASURER REPORT

                Motion by Suiter-Meyers, seconded by Gerber to approve the December Treasurer Report.  Motion carried.

VOUCHERS

                Motion by Gerber, seconded by Suiter-Meyers to approve the vouchers with a check range of 34082-34095.  Motion carried.

ADJOURN

                Motion by Knox, seconded by Gerber to adjourn at 7:14 p.m.   Motion carried.
