Annual Organizational Meeting

SWEAR IN NEW BOARD MEMBER

Cami Myers Alstadt was sworn in as the new Village Trustee for 2021-2023. 

CALL TO ORDER

                President Gary Phillips called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.  Present were President Phillips, Tina Suiter-Meyers, Cami Myers-Alstadt, Beth Schmidt, Terry Gerber, Nikki Tuffree, and Jason Knox.  Also present were Jeff Porter, Nate Porter, Therese Porter, Ben & Amira Alstadt, DPW Director Nick Todd, and Clerk Sherri Waege

AGENDA VERIFICATION

                Clerk Waege verified that on August 15, 2021, copies of the agenda were delivered to the President and Trustees; and posted at the Village Hall, Library, and the Orfordville Post Office.  There were no additions made to the agenda.

DEVELOPER’S AGREEMENT FOR LOT 15 OF THE BUSINESS/INDUSTRIAL PARK

                President Phillips moved the item up on the agenda so the Porter’s did not have to stay for the entire meeting.   Jeff Porter explained that he would like one change in Item 1 that should state that the Developer agrees to commence work not later than 90 days from the date of closing instead of 90 days from the execution of the Developers Agreement.  Motion by Knox, seconded by Suiter-Meyers to approve the Developer’s Agreement with Sollberger Enterprises, LLC with the change in item 1 to state that the Developer agrees to commence work not later than 90 days from date of closing.  Motion carried.

COMMITTEES AND APPOINTMENT RESOLUTION R-2021-05

                President Phillips reviewed the Committees and Appointments.  Motion by Tuffree, seconded by Gerber to adopt Resolution R-2021-05 setting Committees and Appointments.  Motion carried.  Knox requested that the committee list and resolutions be placed on the website.  Myers-Alstadt can create new pages on the website so they can be added.

VILLAGE PRESIDENT’S UPDATE TO NEW BOARD MEMBER

                President Philips updated the Village Board on the following:

·          The loan package for street upgrades has been approved and is moving forward.

·         Lot 15 is also moving forward.

·         President Phillips is meeting with another developer in regards to the Business/Industrial Park.

·         Next Generation Construction has five spec houses being built and another custom home to start soon.

·         Next Generation Construction is getting the roads prepped for paving in early May, weather permitting.

·         New playground equipment for Haugen Park has been ordered.

·         New basketball hoops at Purdy Park have been installed.  President Phillips added that he has seen people using the new hoops and also the tennis courts.

·         The Nehls project downtown has started.   Nehls will also be updating the front façade on two buildings downtown.  Nehls is planning on having the buildings go back to their original/historic look.

·         The street projects will be bid in August, as we are waiting on DNR approval.

·         Schmidt added that the ribbon cutting for The Liquor Barn will be on Saturday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m.

·         President Phillips encouraged Myers-Alstadt to attend the Government 101 class offered by the League of Municipalities.  Myers-Alstadt is already signed up.  President Phillips suggested the other board members look into classes on the League website as well.  Schmidt added that Wisconsin Economic Development offers online classes as well.
